Sweeney was a 3 time All American at Georgetown University and was then drafted by the Bridgeport barrage in 2003. Throughout his playing career sweeney played for various teams and won MLL Championships in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2011 and made appearances in 9 MLL All-Star games. Sweeney played for the US men’s national team in the 2006 and 2010 world championships and gain in the 2007 world indoor lacrosse championship.
